Signs Your Gelco Crown Repair Is Failing

• Hairline cracks spreading across the crown surface. Concrete crowns absorb moisture during Tacoma’s wet season, then the freeze-thaw cycle in January and February opens fissures. Gelco crowns use a denser concrete mix than generic builder-grade crowns, but once water reaches the reinforcing wire, rust expansion accelerates the crack network.

Crown work requires working at roofline height with wet concrete on a sloped surface, proper forming around the flue tile, and correct slope-to-drain geometry. A DIY crown that pools water fails faster than the original and voids any warranty on downstream repairs.
