We’re the crew that shows up at your door in Tacoma with a camera, a brush, and a written price already in your hand. Every person on this page has passed a background check, worn the uniform, and sat through the same training Corrine Halstead wrote in 2009. What unites us isn’t a handbook. I started Level Two Chimney Co. in 2009 after watching too many homeowners sign blank work orders while a tech stood in their living room. That doesn’t happen here. I hold the NFPA 211 Level 2 inspection certification myself, and I still climb roofs when we’re backed up in October. My desk is cluttered with printouts of chimney scans from the last fifteen years, and I can tell you which houses in North End have unlined brick flues without looking at the file. I named the Haven Standard after the five things I wanted every customer to actually have: a written price, a verified crew, a scheduled arrival, an explained scope, and a photo record. Clause 4, the photo requirement, came from a job in 2008 where a competitor told a Lakewood homeowner their liner was cracked. It wasn’t. A picture would have settled it in thirty seconds.

Marcus T., Lead Technician

Marcus has been sweeping chimneys in Pierce County for eleven years, and he’s the reason we don’t lose tools on steep roofs. He specializes in Class III creosote removal, the glazed, tar-like buildup that forms when wood burns too cool, and he’s certified in the chemical and mechanical methods for breaking it down without damaging the flue liner underneath. Marcus grew up in Hilltop and still lives there with two retired racing greyhounds. Dana handles our liner installations, crown rebuilds, and anything that requires scaffolding. She came to us from commercial HVAC in 2017 and brought a rigging skill set that cut our installation time by a third. Her specialty is stainless steel flue liners from DuraFlex and Olympia Chimney, and she’s particular about measuring the flue exactly before ordering, because a liner that’s too tight scrapes the walls and one that’s too loose collects creosote in the gap. Dana lives in Fircrest, restores vintage motorcycles, and has a running bet with Marcus about whether the Mariners will finish above .500. She’s lost money four years running.

Jesse R., Service Coordinator

Jesse answers the phones, schedules the routes, and makes sure the written price reaches your inbox before the technician reaches your porch. He’s been with us since 2019 and knows which neighborhoods in Tacoma have parking restrictions, which gates need codes, and which customers prefer a text to a knock. Jesse grew up in Puyallup and still commutes from there. He’ll ask you what you’re burning, how often, and whether you’ve noticed any draft issues, then he’ll flag the notes for whoever’s assigned. He keeps a spreadsheet of every “weird chimney” in our territory. The one on Proctor with the three flues tied to a single cap is his favorite.

Ari C., Apprentice Technician

Ari joined us in 2023 after completing the chimney safety institute’s introductory program. They’re learning inspection protocol, brush technique, and how to run the camera scan without scraping the liner. Ari’s current project is memorizing the difference between spalling, where freeze-thaw cycles flake the brick face, and efflorescence, the white mineral deposit that looks worse than it usually is. They live in Tacoma’s Stadium District and volunteer with a local woodstove exchange program that helps homeowners swap old uncertified stoves for EPA-compliant models. Ari asks more questions than the rest of us combined, which is exactly what you want in someone who’s still learning.
